Flashlights

Hunting flashlights from Olight: long throw Javelot searchlights, tactical Warrior models and pocket sized Baton torches. Rechargeable lights for blood trailing, field dressing after dark, walking to the high seat and everyday carry on every hunt of the season.

Flashlights

A hunting day rarely ends while there is still light. You walk in before dawn, sit in the high seat until full dark, and the search for a shot animal often starts at night. This category holds Olight flashlights built for exactly that work, from Javelot searchlights that reach several hundred metres to keychain lights that live in your jacket pocket all season and earn their place every single evening.

Why a hunter needs a dedicated flashlight

A phone light fails in the forest: it is weak, drains the battery fast and is awkward to hold with wet or bloody hands. A hunting flashlight is waterproof, impact resistant and runs for hours at outputs from a few lumens to well over a thousand. You need it for blood trailing, field dressing, lighting the path to the high seat and packing gear in the dark. Experienced hunters carry two lights: a strong main torch and a small backup. If one fails or runs flat, the other gets you safely through the rest of the work and back to the car. A small light in a belt holster weighs less than a box of cartridges, so there is no reason to leave it at home.

Types of flashlights in this category

The assortment falls into four main groups: long throw searchlights, tactical torches with a tail switch, pocket lights for everyday carry and floodlights for close work. Each group solves a different job in the forest, so before choosing it helps to understand how they differ and when each one earns its keep.

Long throw Javelot searchlights

Olight Javelot Pro 2 and Javelot Turbo are built around a narrow, concentrated beam that reaches several hundred metres. That beam lets you scan a field edge from the high seat, check that a meadow is empty or sweep a large area while looking for a downed animal. The Javelot Pro 2 KIT version ships as an extended package for hunters who want the full set at once.

Tactical Warrior models

Warrior X Turbo, Warrior X 3 and Warrior Mini 2 carry a switch in the tail cap, pressed with the thumb while the torch sits in your fist. That layout gives you full power instantly with one hand while the other holds a dog lead or your gear. The Warrior Mini 2, available in black and desert tan, is smaller and lighter, so it rides in a jacket pocket through the whole season.

Pocket and everyday lights

Baton 3, Baton 3 Pro, S1R Baton II and S2R Baton II are palm sized rechargeable torches with magnetic charging. The I1R 2 EOS and I1R 2 PRO are smaller still and clip onto a key ring, while the i5T EOS runs on a standard replaceable battery. Lights like these prove their worth when you dress an animal, sort gear in the trailer or search for a dropped case after an evening shot.

Floodlight and hands free models

The Seeker 2 Pro throws a wide, even wall of light that covers the whole working area around a shot animal or a camp table. The Perun 2 Mini has a right angle body: clip it to a cap brim or chest strap and work with both hands free. That setup is the most comfortable choice for long dressing jobs where a handheld torch would need constant repositioning.

How to choose a hunting flashlight

The choice depends on the job you need light for most often. Searching demands beam distance, work over an animal needs a wide close field, and everyday carry comes down to size and weight. Before ordering, run through these points:

  1. Beam profile: a narrow distant beam suits searching, a wide near field is better for dressing and camp work.
  2. Output and modes: several brightness levels save the battery and stop you blinding yourself at close range.
  3. Power source: a rechargeable cell is cheaper to run daily, while replaceable batteries are more dependable on long trips without mains power.
  4. Controls: a tail switch works well with gloves, a side button is simpler for everyday use.
  5. Size and weight: a pocket model is always with you, so take the big searchlight only when you know you will need it.

Practical advice on using light in the field

Light is used sparingly on a hunt, because it gives away your position to game and to other hunters. Walk to the high seat on the lowest mode with the beam pointed at your feet. A red filter spooks animals less and does less damage to your night vision, which is why many hunters follow a blood trail under filtered light. Check the charge level before every trip, and in winter keep the torch in an inner pocket, since battery capacity drops in the cold. Never point the beam in a direction where another hunter could be standing.

The Olight brand

Every model in this category is made by Olight. The manufacturer specialises in portable lights and covers the range from the keychain sized I1R 2 EOS to the powerful Javelot searchlights. Most torches charge through a magnetic cable without removing the battery or opening the body, which is convenient in wet conditions. You will also find occasional items marked as damaged packaging: the note sits right in the product name, so you see clearly what you are buying before you order.
