Air guns
Air guns for self-defense are CO2-powered pistols, revolvers and shotgun-style launchers firing rubber balls. The category holds Umarex T4E models: HDS 68, HDR 50 and licensed Walther PPQ M2 and Smith&Wesson M&P9 versions for protecting your home, homestead or hunting cabin.

A hunter's home often sits where help is slow to arrive: a farmstead at the forest edge, a hunting cabin, a yard with dog kennels. In places like these you want a tool that can stop an intruder or an aggressive stray dog without lethal force. That is the job of CO2-powered air guns firing rubber balls, and this category collects the Umarex T4E models we stock.
Who these air guns are for
Air guns in this category are built for personal, home and property defense. Rubber balls are driven by a standard CO2 capsule, so you can stop a threat without the risk of a lethal wound. For a hunter this matters at a remote homestead or cabin, where a registered hunting firearm is not a self-defense option. A rubber ball hits hard enough to turn an attacker at several meters, and in many cases the sight of the gun ends the confrontation before a shot is fired. Most models are faithful copies of well-known service pistols, so they also work for grip and trigger practice between hunting seasons.
Models in this category
The range holds five Umarex T4E models: two HDS 68 launchers, the HDR 50 revolver and two pistols built under Walther and Smith&Wesson licenses. All run on CO2 and fire rubber balls; they differ in caliber, energy and construction.
HDS 68 launchers
The HDS 68 fires a large .68 caliber rubber ball and is the most powerful model in the category. We stock two versions, one of which reaches 16 J of energy. The heavy ball strikes wide and hard, which is why the HDS 68 is usually chosen for home and homestead defense at short distances.
Walther PPQ M2 T4E
The Walther PPQ M2 T4E fires .43 caliber balls and closely mirrors the well-known service pistol: weight, grip shape and trigger travel stay near the original. It is a sound choice if you want to train with a copy of a gun you already know from the range.
Smith&Wesson M&P9 M2.0 T4E
The Smith&Wesson M&P9 M2.0 T4E is also a .43 caliber pistol. The ergonomic M&P grip fits both large and small hands, and semi-automatic operation lets you place several quick shots in a row.
HDR 50 revolver
The T4E HDR 50 revolver fires .50 caliber balls at 11 J. A revolver is a simple, forgiving design with none of the jamming risk of semi-automatic actions, so it suits owners who will rarely handle the gun but need it to work on the first pull.
How to choose a CO2 defense gun
Four things decide the choice: caliber, energy, action type and who will use the gun. Larger caliber and higher energy give stronger stopping effect, while a simpler action leaves less room for error under stress. Run through these points before ordering:
- Purpose. For home defense at short range, the large-caliber HDS 68 or HDR 50 works best; the .43 caliber pistols are handier for training.
- Energy. The 16 J version hits noticeably harder than the standard one, but different purchase requirements may apply to it.
- Action. A revolver is simpler and more dependable for an occasional shooter; a pistol holds more rounds and shoots faster in trained hands.
- Ergonomics. If you already shoot a Walther or Smith&Wesson pistol, pick the matching T4E copy so your habits transfer directly.
Practical advice for owners
A defense air gun only helps if it is ready and you know how to run it. Keep it reachable but out of children's hands, check the CO2 capsule from time to time, and shoot a practice string in a safe place at least a few times a year. Remember that CO2 pressure drops in the cold: a gun stored in a heated room fires more dependably in winter than one left in a car or an unheated cabin. Clean the barrel after shooting, and remove the capsule before long storage, because a pierced capsule left in place can damage the seals. Use separate balls for practice and keep your defense ammunition ready.
Purchase requirements
In Lithuania the rules for buying air guns depend on the projectile's kinetic energy, so different models in this category may fall under different requirements. All of them are for adults only. Before ordering a higher-energy version, check the current rules, or write to us and we will help you find out what applies to the model you picked.
If you are weighing other self-defense options, look at our gas pistols or revolvers. License holders can browse the combat pistols category. If you have questions about a model or the purchase rules, write to us and we will advise.
