Pads

Hunting seat pads and cushions keep you warm and dry through long hours in a high seat, at a feeding station or on a folding chair. Choose from ThermaSeat, Harkila, Blaser and Vanish: thermal, heated, foldable or inflatable pads for any season.

Pads

Hours spent in a high seat or on a folding chair quickly remind you that bare metal or wood pulls heat away even through thick trousers. A seat pad placed under you traps warmth, cuts damp rising from below, and lets you stay quiet and still for as long as the wait for game takes.

Who needs a hunting chair seat pad

A pad matters for anyone who sits in one spot for a long stretch: watching from a high seat, waiting through a stand during a driven hunt, or scanning a field from a folding chair. Without one, the seat pulls body heat away within minutes, and in autumn or winter that means cold feet and restless shifting that spooks game nearby.

A pad also guards against a damp or dusty surface. Ground-blind floors, wooden benches and metal chairs are often wet after rain or dew. A dry, soft base lets you focus on watching the field rather than on discomfort. The same goes for the shooting range, where a shooter can wait an hour or more on a hard bench seat between rounds.

Types of seat pads for hunting chairs

The range covers several different approaches, from a simple thermal pad to a heated model that runs on a battery. Each suits a different situation depending on temperature and how long you plan to sit.

Thermal pads

The ThermaSeat thermal seat pad (brown/black or orange) insulates against a cold surface and holds body heat with no battery or cable needed. It suits a long sit in a high seat on a cold morning, while the field is still wet with dew. The orange version also helps with visibility on safety grounds, useful during a driven hunt with several participants nearby.

Heated pads

The heated Blaser seat pad 80408407 carries an electronic heating element that keeps you warm even in low temperatures. It suits anyone who sits in a high seat for more than an hour during a driven hunt or a night stalk, when movement has to stay minimal and cold feet would otherwise force you up sooner than you'd like.

Foldable foam pads

The Harkila 2.0 IN Foam foldable seat pad, 29cm, dark green, carries easily as you move to a new position. Folded, it takes little space in a rucksack and opens out fast on almost any surface: a tree stump, a rock or a high-seat bench.

Inflatable cushions

The GFT inflatable seat cushion, 30x40cm, weighs the least of any option here and suits a hunt where every gram in the rucksack counts, on a long walk into the hills or to a distant watch point. Deflated, it fits in a pocket and inflates in seconds once you reach the spot.

Camo and coloured pads

The Blaser seat pad 40x35cm, Vanish olive green and Vanish Realtree Edge Camo match your clothing so the seat does not stand out at a distance. Pattern matters when stalking from a low position or in open ground, where game can spot a sitting hunter at close range, and a bright or pale seat can undo a careful stalk in seconds.

How to choose the right pad

A few points are worth weighing before you buy:

  • sitting time: a thin thermal pad is enough for a short watch, while a heated model suits a long night sit better;
  • air temperature: warmth matters more than weight in the cold season, and the reverse holds true in summer;
  • how you carry it: choose a foldable or inflatable pad if you walk far on foot;
  • where you'll sit: a high-seat bench, a folding chair or bare ground each demand different insulation from below;
  • colour: camo or a dark shade helps you stay unnoticed.

Practical field advice

Check that a pad is dry before you head out to the high seat. Damp foam cools fast and loses its insulating value. Switch on a heated Blaser pad a little early so the seat warms before you sit down, and check the battery level at home rather than once you're already in the field. Keep a foldable Harkila pad somewhere within easy reach, since a hunter often changes position during a driven hunt and the pad needs to travel along. Let a pad dry out fully once you're back before you pack it away, or trapped moisture will chill it further next time.

Check a GFT inflatable cushion for air loss before the season starts, since the valve can leak slightly after winter storage. Keep camo Vanish or Blaser pads out of direct sun so the colour does not fade and stays close to a natural tone. If you sit on a metal chair or high-seat bench for hours, strap the pad down with a band so it does not slide as you shift position.

Brands

ThermaSeat is known for thermal insulation without any extra hardware. Harkila and Blaser offer professional hunting accessories, including foldable and heated pads among them. Vanish specialises in camo patterns, and GFT makes light inflatable models for long walks. Each brand solves a different sitting problem, so match the choice to how and where you hunt.

Take a look at the chairs or puffs if you're after the seat itself rather than just a pad. If you're unsure which pad fits your hunting ground and season, write to us and we'll advise based on your situation.
