Types of care products

• Carry a small spray if you expect several days of hunting in a row.

Practical field advice

Clean boots once the mud has dried — working wet mud in only pushes it deeper into the leather pores. After returning from a marsh or pond, dry boots at room temperature, not next to a heater, since sudden heat stiffens leather. Apply an impregnant at least a day before the hunt so the layer has time to set. Keeping a small tin or spray in the car boot pays off — a boot treated right after getting wet recovers faster than one left untreated for a week.
